Mingle & Jingle Rings Up Support for Revamped Kamas Valley Community Foundation

The Kamas Valley Community Foundation, a reinvention of the South Summit Education Foundation to extend support beyond education to the arts, recreation, and humanitarian and health causes along the East Side communities, celebrated and raised funds last week at the Montage Deer Valley.

The organization that launched in July celebrated a growing ability to fund student scholarships as well as support the Kamas and Oakley food pantries at a critical time, along with an ever-growing trail system in the area.

Singer, comedian, and inspirational speaker Jason Hewlett, a homegrown talent, kept the evening going and led the live auctions, which spontaneously led to prizes doubled up and consequently doubled up on funds for the foundation.

One highlight was a Don Weller masterpiece painting of horses crossing a stream in golden light. Another was a group coin-flipping game of heads or tails that led to Summit County Councilor Megan McKenna winning a stay at the Newpark Resort Hotel.
